This Book Will Change Your Life - Amanda Weaver

With a title and a summary like this, what bookworm can resist?  Obviously I can't.  I've been on a review-copy downloading ban because I have too much I need to read and review.  I was doing good, only downloading things by authors I know and trust, nothing that I could live without.  But this novel just grabbed my attention for obvious reasons.  Of course I was approved and I devoured this immediately.  It was a weekend read that I flew through and absolutely adored.

Hannah and Ben were both well developed characters that I really enjoyed.  They are both smart and nerdy in their own ways.  What I really loved was watching Hannah fall in love with reading.  Watching her experience the first novel that kept her up all night and then the joy of discussing it with someone who really understands that feeling.  Now, I can't say I agree with the reading choices because they are all novels I have avoided and will continue to avoid.  Maybe it's just me, but if I was going to recommend a novel, it would be something that was a little more readable and maybe a little happier than Ben's choices.  Regardless, it was still fun to watch Hannah, the consummate science geek really fall in love with fiction.

This novel had a great readable quality.  I had a difficult time putting it down and finished it rather quickly.  The writing was on par with other new adult romances I've read, with just the right level of smut.  It is smart and funny and captivating.

Despite how much I enjoyed it, I did have a few issues.  It has a lot of drama!  The older I get, the less tolerant I become needless drama.  Ben's reasoning for wanting someone else were just ridiculous.  That's not going anywhere and you are leading Hannah on.  BUT, on that same note, you aren't leading Hannah on enough for the blow-up that occurs.  I mean, I get where she was coming from, but really?  You guys haven't even went on a date!  It ended up working out in the end, but I kinda wanted to shake both of them at one point or another.  I get that they are college students, but can we get a bit of maturity here?  I was more matured and level-headed than that in high school!

The ending pulls together a bit too quickly for my liking, but it's satisfying so I won't pick it apart.  Basically, this was an enjoyable contemporary new adult romance.  If that's your kinda thing, then you'll like this.  If you aren't a romance fan, well this obviously isn't something you'd want to pick up, though it might surprise you!
